Mother and Daughter Project!

Today my mom and I worked on the project for my bedroom.  It is an upholstered wall hanging.  Here are step by step pictures of our fun!

Materials - I got my materials at Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's - most of which were on sale!
The cat decided to help!
We sewed the batting together so it wouldn't move.
Ironed all the wrinkes out!
Measured for center.
Made sure buttons were evenly spaced.
We thought that sewing the buttons directly to the batting would give us the look we wanted, however...it did not - but it was good to help keep the buttons in place.

We stapled the material to the wood framed canvas.

**note - I bought an artist wood framed canvas for 2 reasons - 1. it was 1/2 off and my other idea (big pieces of styrofoam would have cost me three times as much )  2. it came with easy hanging possibilities.**
To achieve the look we really wanted we pulled the buttons through the batting and wood framed canvas.

And the finished product!

Meeting new people on Blogger

Someone, who I do not know personally, came across my blog and posted a comment on my most recent post.  I was astonished to find that someone who is not close friends or family (let's face it, they are the only ones who read my blog) actually read my blog - I was intrigued, so I checked her's out and I have to say that I LOVE her blog!  I think everyone must read - she is so creative.  Here's her link - Bean In Love.  I don't know if she'll ever read my blog again, but I'll keep up with hers.  She has so many good ideas for decorating and such.  Thanks for commenting!

creative ideas

The other day I was perusing the Internet for inspiring ideas and I found one.  I must back up.  I have been looking for something to fill the big wall over our head board in our bedroom.  A sculpture, a piece of art...I really didn't know.  Then this day on the Internet, I got my inspiration.  I plan to work on the project on Saturday, and I will take lots of step by step pictures and post on this blog.  For now, here's a glimpse.

Another thing the happened that night, was that I couldn't go to sleep because I had so many ideas flooding my head for other creative projects.  I can't wait to get started on these things.  Some will be for our home and others gifts.  This sudden burst of creativity has resulted from living in a home that we really enjoy and that we know we'll be in until we buy our first home, therefore, I want to decorate and make it as nice as I can for us and our cat!

What's new

Joseph informed me that I generally blog about the weekend...and he's right.  So if you haven't guessed this blog will be mostly about the weekend. HA

I do have to give a health update.  I am feeling 100% better.  I had a check up this morning and when checking my breathing, the doctor said "you sound like a normal person."  That is good to know!

This past weekend - Joseph was off again Saturday and Sunday.  I am getting very used to this.  We had a very relaxing Friday evening eating pancakes and watching separate tv's (yes, we do that all the time).  I was in the living room watching the classic "Yours, Mine and Ours" and he was in the front room watching the Rangers.  Saturday we watched "Anchor Man", following in our endevor to watch all of our movies in alphabetical order - you notice we are still in the A's and I have become bored and started watching movies by myself from the bottom up :)

Saturday afternoon/evening was spent with my girls.  We saw Eat Pray Love which I thought was interesting, but not an owner and then ate at a hole in the wall restaurant called Tuscan Slice - oh so good!  I can't wait to take Joseph there - he will love it!  Then back at home at a decent hour and Joseph and I played Monopoly.  It took forever.  Some of you know my husband very well and you also know that when it comes to Monopoly, or fantasy baseball or football - my husband DOES NOT TRADE.  It can be so frustrating.  Also, you should know that Joseph doesn't like "house rules."  Which means no "free parking money."  But we have perfected the art of compromise and he let me have my free parking and he wouldn't trade.  Next time we play - no free parking and he HAS to trade.  He agreed - I should have recorded it - darn.  We did not finish the game and had to finish on Sunday - Joseph won.

Sunday we met Ed and Sherry for lunch at Logan's Roadhouse and then while driving to and from discovered that little ole Waxahachie is getting an EL FENIX!!!!  My heart skipped several beats - just ask Joseph.  I was very excited!  It opens in September.

On another note - I was creative this weekend.  I made something for our home.  I love it and I will share with everyone what it is at a later date.  Also I found this website on facebook called Young House Love - check it out.  It gets my creative juices flowing!

Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend too!

Weekends

Weekends are full of wonderful short hours.....we spend so much time during the week just looking forward to our little two day weekend. I vote for a three day weekend. Let's put that into effect! Who's with me?

This weekend I will spend with my wonderful, loving, sweet husband who happens to be off both Saturday and Sunday, a rarity in the retail world. Last year for my birthday he gave me a massage gift certificate, and because it normally takes me forever to cash in a gift certificate, I will use it tomorrow for one blissful hour of relaxation! Sunday we will go to church and no doubt will hear an excellent sermon and spend some much needed time in prayer and worship. I don't think we can ever have too much time with either. Then it's off to the monthly ALS (Adams, Lewis, Smith) lunch at Petaluma Cafe. We have never been there so Joseph and I are excited to try something new! Afterwards, we will relax and then watch some Cowboys. Sounds like a good weekend to me. Like I said, wish it would be longer.

Oh, and breathing getting better.

Yup, sick again

So, I'm sick again....it is not fun. I am so tired of not being able to breathe and coughing all the time. I get up a few times during the night and I am "sick" of it. I just want to be able to walk into Wal-Mart and back out without having to use my inhaler twice. I want to walk at a normal pace and go outside and get through a day of work. Today was bad. I had to go home from work. I don't like missing work. I just sit at home and worry about the things that don't get done. Hopefully the antibiotics and new preventative inhaler will start to work. That's all I have to say...I want to feel better.
